When Revera launched its locally-hosted Microsoft hybrid cloud platform Azure Stack by CloudCreator late last year, in-county backup for Azure VMs was in the wings, but off the launch-day menu as work continued to integrate Revera’s next-generation data protection platform, Silver-lining Protect.

With work now complete, clients using Azure Stack by CloudCreator can take advantage of native in-country backup to keep their data close to home.

Revera product manager Abhishek Beri said the addition of a local backup target for Azure Stack by CloudCreator was a continuation of the company’s mission to put clients at the controls of everything they need in the hybrid cloud.

“Off-shore Public clouds are great for many things – but not everything,” he said. “A local backup target allows Azure Stack clients to keep sensitive data onshore,” he said.

Revera’s multi-cloud management suite CloudCreator enables Azure Stack users to self-provision local backups for their Azure Stack VMs, as well as specify backup frequency and duration of data retention. CloudCreator also offers a window to the Silver-lining Protect admin console, where users can manage ad-hoc backups and restores.

With little appetite for wrestling more hardware or point applications to address data compliance and lifecycle management, Revera’s strategy to integrate cloud APIs covers more bases in the cloud, said Beri. “Clients want one view of the world and simple controls to take advantage of flexible pay-as-you-go cloud data protection from platforms that work best for them.”
